Planner Job Description
The Planner is a key role on our Customer Focus Team (CFT). They have principal responsibility for managing inventory levels in accordance with the forecasted manufacturing plan and a key partner in achieving on time delivery to our customers. Working closely with the supply base, they are accountable for material availability and costing in order to effectively meet both the customer’s needs and our internal supply chain metrics. Success in the role includes a positive, proactive approach to daily work along with strong communication and organizational skills.
DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES include, but not limited to:
- Accountable for communication of order commits and order status to the Program Manager
- Including parts shortages and delays, capacity constraints for example
- Communicating the impact of parts issues and exceptions to the CFT and customer
- Ensure forecasts / waterfalls are regularly reviewed with CFT and customers
- Manage and execute the MRP Workbench (release and commit of demand change in Rapid Response)
- Responsible for target customer inventory levels, turns, projection and inventory optimization
- Analysis and reporting of Material Availability by project, including identifying last part in house dates
- Determine and manage implementation dates and material cost impact associated with ECOs & material Use-Up
- Identify parts which need to come off Material Programs for End of Life assemblies (Project Close Outs Program), make decisions on what to do with excess materials (sell to customer, brokers etc.)
- Investigation, validation and reduction of direct material variances
- Management of inventory, including disposition of excess and obsolete inventory
- Complete the customer demand acceptance process (CDAP)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-secondary education in Operations, Inventory Management, Purchasing or an equivalent business certification preferred
- Minimum of 4 years of planning experience within the electronics industry
- ERP system experience within a Supply Chain environment including planning, inventory control and purchasing
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Excel
- Lean Supply Chain experience would be beneficial
- Experience with customer communication, written and verbal would be beneficial
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Ability to multitask & prioritize in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Excellent English communications skills, both written and verbal
- Organized, self-motivated team player, able to work well under pressure
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with all levels of the organization as well as directly with key customer contacts
